Simply put it is a great addition to have on your website because now you have options in generating extra income and each affiliate has their generous amount of potential income they provide for you to advertise and refer your customers to their services. It is a win/win situation for both the merchants and the promoters. One of the important rules in finding an affiliate is to find one who relates to your website. For example if you are selling shoes then you want to keep your affiliates in the same department that offers the same thing or similar to it.
